Poetic Musings: The Door

Not What It Seems

Today I found—as I reflected—

I didn’t have time to pay him mind.

Since those feelings weren’t resurrected,

I simply closed the door, goodbye.

But my stoic face moved him not.

Without one care did he seem to need,

when suddenly my soul felt arrested

because I closed the door—to me.

Poetry isn’t always an expression of lived experience; it’s often the inner workings of one’s mind or random urges of the imagination. As we journey through this poetry challenge, throw perfection and caution to the wind and just flow freely from within.
