A Brief Departure From Dignity: Limerick Edition
Often, we look at professionals across varying fields and wonder whether they ever find time to laugh and embrace goofiness. Well, tonight I present to you limerick night, where anything (within the realm of all that’s good and holy) goes!
Inhale, exhale, and just be—and for tonight, don’t take me seriously.
The Writer’s Plight
I thought I would write every day
My word! I had plenty to say.
‘Til I ran all around,

All Snuffed Out

Of Old Edgar’s satchel of snuff

Marital Intercession
When my man wants to dance through the night
But the kids protest sleep with a fight
I pray, “Father, please
Fill these wee ones with ease.
Let us share a sweet pause of delight.

What did you think? Would you ever try writing a limerick yourself? This exercise was a delightful way to stretch myself and shake off those cobwebs from yesteryear.
I look forward to reading your own audacious poems in the comments below.
