Sometimes, We Have to Just…Be
Happy October!
I decided to give this month to poetic expressions and discovery. Before editing, I was a writer, and poetry was my first love.
Without further ado, here’s my gift to you.
Remembering Tomorrow
Sighing into the twilight, the air is ripe, harvest gold
Memories of tomorrow dance on my soul.
Holding in my heart fresh love replacing fear,
like the milk from my breasts sustaining my babies’ tears.
And I cry, because I know what it’s like to be full yet to ache
from the pain of torrential shame quaking over me, a wake.
But my eyes behold a vision of a girl empowered to dwell
who never cowers and somehow fells the insidious powers of the depths of hell.
And He sighed when I died, but then lived—twice alive
to give back to Him the breath He gave to me,
in my memory of tomorrow.

The Editor’s Desk
I think this is what I want to gift you all. Yes, I’m all about refining and excellence in the written word. But life isn’t always pristine and pretty. Oftentimes it’s raw, undignified, brash—and still holy. And this is what I’m giving you this blessed October.
